BLOG 1 Week 1

I think for me when it comes to preparing for a school trip it can be pretty planned out, you have enough control of what will happen. The prep for the trip is probably not at exciting.

When it comes to serving Jesus, its coming into a place of denying yourself. And things that you may expect to happen can be be turned around, but will still end with a good outcome. Usually when you are told that you are going to serve someone, you try to get a full scope of who that person is. Finding out what they can and cant eat, what things they enjoy doing, things that irritate them, and so on. Now with the information that you have, you form and create things to now best serve them and make them feel loved.

With preparing to serve Jesus, to know him best is going to be through his word. Therefore, during this week of boot camp as we prepare to make a spirit filled week for over 160 youth through SLAM, I’m preparing myself to respond with obedience. I know there are going to be things that happen this week that I’m challenged with and I don’t want to do, but I believe that when I respond with obedience the Lord will meet me even in my struggle.

Boot camp is calling me to show up with any and everything I have and my prayer is that I’m animated by God’s spirit. That in my downtime I can be in Gods word so that i can know what he expects of me when serving him through these youth this week. So when it comes to preparing for a school trip, yeah it can be fun, but setting aside time to prepare to serve Jesus just gives me another kind of Excitement and Energy knowing that when Jesus is invited he will respond.
