I loved getting to be on the side of the camera where I get to hear the testimonies of students and the way God was impacting their life. A big part of media creation is being able to communicate a story, and even more important, letting others communicate their stories. The youth at SLAM impressed me with their ability to articulate the work that God was doing in their lives. The world that we live in often shuts down kids for speaking “out of place”, but often kids just want to be heard, seen, and to tell their stories and when we do that they feel incredibly loved.
Kids have a perspective we don’t, they have an innocence about them that allows for such pure words to come from their mouths. Jesus teaches us that out of the heart, the mouth speaks, and if you heard these kids testify to the work God is doing, you can tell their hearts were on fire for God.
I learned that one of the biggest parts about ministry is youth development. When kids get on fire for God, feel safe enough to testify, and are given that opportunity, they become unstoppable. God really grabbed ahold of these SLAM kids lives this week and I was blessed beyond measure to be apart of it.
