It is true that on summer internship a lot of the good work you do will go unseen and you won’t be praised for it. Even so, I think that this work can be some of the most important work. I’ve had to daily take on the mindset of a servant and forget about whether or not people notice my hard work. I’m here to serve people with my whole self and that requires me to be focused on the work at hand, the work in my present moment because there are people who need God and I won’t be able to do for them what God wants me to if I am distracted.

It’s been important for me to recognize that God sees my effort and he will support me in that as long as I’m in obedience to his word. I’m not saying that I haven’t been recognized for any of the work that I’ve done, in fact I’ve received some touching encouragements from my friends and leaders over the past week in El Salvador. But a lot of the work that only God sees is the work that will build a strong character in me and that work has already fostered more humbleness in my heart.
