So, we’re SLAMMIN’ it up at the GOD Intl campus, and the whole dealio is going pretty well. Last night, there was a moment for the students to give short testimonies. I think this quote sums up what I learned from this moment pretty eloquently:
“It’s hard to beat a good testimony.”
– Max Harvey
There was something profoundly impactful about hearing someone’s story. I love stories. You really can’t beat a good story. We see this in scripture when Jesus heals the blind man. The people hearing his story of healing argued about it, but the man’s testimony was simple, “I was once blind, and now I can see.”
I learned just how energizing it is to hear the stories of those you’re directly serving.
Fun fact: when you share a story with someone, both parties have their brains release just a little bit of oxytocin, also known as the empathy chemical, the same one that floods a mother’s brain when she has a newborn child, so that she feels immediately protective for the child.
So, basically, stories can be life-giving in a way.
I’m Max, and this had been MAX MISADVENTURES: VOLUME THREE.
See ya on the flip side.
