What I Learned in Morristown

Going to Morristown was an incredible experience. I’ve been to Morristown before, but this time was different. The large Hispanic community there has been recently affected by a cracking-down of immigration policies. ICE is a program of the government that has been actively searching for, and finding undocumented immigrants and doing with them what they like. This has become a very big fear for the community, and has affected their day-to-day lives.

Going back to Morristown this time, I was more intentional to think about the history and people. Being able to serve and bring light to a community struck by fear was such a blessing. It was hard to see people i know and love have to live life with an afflicted fear. Its easy to have faith for God to do something in your life, but when living in a constant fear this can become very very difficult. My friends and family in Morristown are so strong and so faithful to continue living their lives for God. Their testimonies are beautiful and they mean so much to me. I was so glad to be able to go to Morristown and I hope to continue serving that community going into the future.
