NO PHONE! OH NO!

Part of the experience of summer internship is that we turn in our phones. This phone detox has been very helpful for me. At first I was feeling annoyed about it because I just made some new friends in Portugal and I can’t talk to them until the trip is over. But that was not the only reason I wanted my phone. I wanted my phone for all the normal things I would use it for. For example I would doom scroll, which is to scroll for a long time on social media. Anytime there was a break in the schedule my normal instinct was to grab my phone in my pocket and look at it. But there was no phone to look at so I had to start to use my time with something more productive. Like reading my Bible, or journal, or read a book.

This was something I was not used to and I had to go through, but I was not alone in this. Me and my friends all had to do this and it has been really fun getting to communicate with them and not worry about what the internet is saying or have to communicate with the newest trend that’s going around. It’s something special being able to sit and talk about the bible with your friends and hear everyone’s thoughts. I’m very thankful for this experience, this is helping me grow stronger with the Lord and even with my friends.
