Blog 3: SLAM NuNation

This week I’ve learned that young people are very capable of doing their part of Gods work, but they need good examples in their life and encouragement through God’s word to get to that place. This was an incredible week. I am a SLAM vet, and thought I knew a lot about SLAM… until I got this opportunity to help facilitate it for this week. The Lord moved in amazing ways, and I believe moved through me to help speak into my friends, and youths’ lives.

One thing I was very encouraged by this week was serving alongside the rising 8th graders of the Academy for GOD at a kids camp. I had been in their shoes not too long ago and remembered myself at that same age. I was a good kid and was good with kids, but had some questionable respect for young leaders, like interns. I would often challenge, question, or reluctantly follow their instruction and was a little punk. When I went into the camp for the first time with them, I expected similar responses from them. But the way they respected me and treated me blessed me so greatly and I felt like a proud older brother.
