My Amazing Morristown Experience

Saturday morning I arrived to our designated meeting place ready to go wherever we might be headed that morning. As soon as I saw two buses and lots of instruments being loading, I knew we were going to Morristown. I’ve wanted to go to Morristown since learning about GOD’s relationship with the church there so I was thrilled. Almost exciting as the trip to Morristown was my first every trip to Buc-ees–safe to say that Buc-ees is a magical place. Anywhos, when we got to Morristown, I was told I would be helping facilitate a kids camp which is one of my favorite activities to lead and participate in.

My body should have been tired from the past SLAM week, however, as soon as I walked into the camp and met the precious kids, my heart rejoiced and I felt a rush of energy from the Lord. Throughout the entire camp, my mind was fully present and engaged with the kids around me, making bracelets, watching the boys play soccer, blowing bubbles etc. Safe to say, I had the time of my life.

On the bus ride home from the kids camp, I was having a conversation with some friends who were at the camp who had asked me how I was feeling after the long day. It was such a joy to answer them honestly in saying that I was full of excitement and energy to wake up and get to serve again the next day in a new way.

Julian reminded me of a verse in Deuteronomy 8:3 which says, “that man shall not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” He reminded me when Jesus repeats this verse after 40 days in the wilderness, humans have the capacity to find our strength in the word of God. I’m learning how to find my energy in serving the Lord. Praise God!
