An impactful moment I had during our time in Morristown was spending time with Hope and Thrive Academy. Hope and Thrive is a ministry for adults with disabilities. I had the opportunity to spend a few hours with some of them on Saturday and we went to walk around a farmers market with different booths set up. We got to create memories with them and give them a chance to talk about some of their favorite things.
We also had a couple times of worship and went to an ice cream shop that had some outdoor games for us to play. We played corn hole, connect 4, and got a circle of people to play charades. This time was so moving to me because most of these people were shy to talk at first, but as we kept playing everyone got more comfortable. I loved getting to hear them laugh and hear how passionate they are about their hobbies. The people I got to serve during my time there were so smart and remembered the names of the people who had visited them previously. They invest into knowing us just as much as we invest into knowing them and that is just so special to experience.
