Today I was stationed at a kids camp in the Paddock Apartments. During my time there helping to put on the kids camp I had a conversation with a very interesting man named Dave (name changed for privacy) who was 46 years old. Now, Dave was definitely not all there mentally in terms of coherence and clarity, but we had a very good conversation. He told me that I had a spirit of “yearning for deeper understanding” which is something that I am still processing. Anyway, Mr. Ownby told me that the conversation I had with this man may be similar to conversations I will have with some people in Africa in terms of the attention and passion he had, so this could be a way that my service project helped me prepare to serve abroad.
