I have learned so much from the past 3 weeks on internship. The time we’ve had in the word of God, serving him and in worship have all contributed to my spiritual development and I can’t wait to learn even more. I seriously have many testimonies and lessons to share about but I want to share with you one overarching thing I’m learning.
Going into this trip I had been praying a lot that the Lord would be near, and even more so I would be consistently discerning his presence. During my time in El Salvador the Lord answered that prayer and hope of mine and even exceeded those expectations. There were many moments where I got to witness visibly the work of the Lord and it has filled me with so much joy and belief in his power.
I want to share of a small but formative moment I had with the Lord in El-Salvador. It was the first day of SLAM, (Students Living A Mission, a youth service camp) and our team is missing the lanyards for the youth that were coming in an hour. Some of our team members were given the responsibility to find them in a pile of huge bags we brought from the US. Our first time through we can’t find them, so I begin to pray. I know name tags may not seem incredibly important but we have been learning of the importance of names and labeling in the Bible so I didn’t want to not give it the right amount of attention. Then I found Esther (my friend and fellow Intern) and we prayed together for help to find these lanyards. We looked again in faith that God might help us find them and found them in the first bag we went back to check.
This small moment was the first of many times the Lord was so present and I was able to witness his works. I’ve come to realize that it’s my responsibility to acknowledge how God is moving, because he always is; and through my acknowledgement of that he can do even more through me.
John 8:29 says, “And He who sent Me is with Me; He has not left me alone, for I always do the things that our pleasing to him.” I hope to continue to embody this verse throughout this summer. Please continue in prayer for the works of the Lord in me and his people! I love you all!!
