Helping Hands

While on the plane going to El Salvador, I was talking to Genesis. I told Genesis that since I was the older sister, I felt like I had to do everything myself just because I felt like I had to take care of my little sisters. I brought that mentality to the internship.

Genesis told me that I need to learn to accept help from others even if it’s just as simple as carrying my bags. Being hypoglycemic, I have to keep track of my blood sugar levels. Being on internship, I have struggled with feeling tired, unproductive and like I’m a burden.

While in El Salvador, I met a woman named Nely. She was a very faithful woman, but had recently been very sick she had been in the hospital for a few days, and after that, she struggled to even get out of bed. I told her how I could do something small and my blood sugar would drop and I would become tired again. Nely prayed over me. After she prayed, she told me to give my health to God, but also not to push myself too hard, which is very hard because I like to do everything myself and push myself past my limits.

Genesis and Nely both really taught me to give anything to God m, especially with my health, but also learn to accept help from others, even though it may be hard.
