Worshipping the Lord

During SLAM and internship, one of the main parts is worship. We would worship before each sermon and even while doing service projects. We would even worship whenever we have down time. All of those times have brought me so much joy but also so many tears. From the beginning of the week to the end of the week, I watched many kids be touched by God. At the beginning of the week, kids started off being shy. By the end of the week, all the kids were dancing around or on their knees crying to the Lord. Watching the Lord change them just in one area, even though there may have been many, made my heart happy and made me feel like we succeeded in our job. I was also brought joy when the SLAM kids sang worship songs to the kids at kids camps they were serving at. The worship songs brought joy to the little kids and you could see a spark light up in their eye.

During El Salvador SLAM, the Lord touched many students through worship. In El Salvador, most kids don’t have very good at home lives. They showed up to SLAM shy and they kept to themselves. They didn’t know they were in a safe space. I also was very scared of the language barrier. The very last day, I noticed a huge difference. All the kids were interacting in worship. They were dancing and laughing with us. None of us let the language barrier stop us. We tried our best to understand each other and if we couldn’t get it we would use a translator. It was also amazing watching the kids repeat the songs they heard played at worship while serving people of the community.
These worship experiences have brought me so much peace and joy. I haven’t even experienced Africa’s worship times yet and I already know there will be a huge impact on the kids.
