SLAM Service Projects

The first two SLAM projects I got to do were at St. Luke’s, a hygiene and food pantry that gives away products to people who are struggling. It’s done in a more dignified way by setting up a grocery store look so that people can go through with a cart and pick specifically what they want. The second project I did was with a farmer named Nate. We helped him start putting together tanks in his greenhouse so that he can keep Fish there and sell them. Both projects pushed me physically but getting to interact with the people I was serving kept me motivated to do well. Reflecting on these times of service with SLAM is preparing me for the kind of mindset I need to have abroad. I know the work will get harder but if I Make sure to always enjoy and engage with the people I am around I will be able to work with much More efficiency and joy.
