SLAM Kenya

Serving for Slam Kenya was a little more challenging than Uganda. There were several challenges such as language barrier. Most of the kids knew just the basics in English and the rest was purely Swahili for them. So many a time we had to get translators to help us interact with most of the kids.

My role in Mombasa was helping Ethan Be in charge of room K110 , and there after it was more of heavy lifting which included organizing the various tents and converging areas. Though short , Slam Kenya was quite interesting. The one thing that stood out for me was the fact that the Kenyans were very vibrant and energetic when it came to praise and worship. They could literally dance and sing all day.

The temperature however was very challenging, it was extremely hot and that was a huge inconvenience but by the grace of God we prevailed. We also did a service project there were we also built a shower area for an elderly lady and she was deeply touched. We then shared words of encouragement with her and prayed for her and her many , many , many grandkids
We then shared a small meal , they gave us coconuts and we broke bread and made merry.
