Participating in the SLAM Week

This internship has been a wonderful experience all the way to this point. From welcoming everyone at the airport to getting to have these wonderful conversations with them. In each and every conversation I had, I can see the excitement everyone had to serve and continue to learn God’s word. I was so motivated by everyone’s energy and enthusiasm about serving the Lord and with that, all the little fear and uncertainty I had in this trip vanished and I was ready to see the Lord moving in my life and indeed I have seen him move.

One of the ways I have seen the Lord moving is during the SLAM Week is that I thought that it would be something normal and an activity to pass by but getting to know and work with everyone had we reflect more and more on the word. During the first day of service projects, I saw that some of the SLAM student participants didn’t know why they were doing these serve projects and others who did work were just doing it just because it needed to be done.

I got an opportunity to educated them on why we do serve these kind of people and in these places (the poor and marginalized). I had amazing conversations this these kids and they were so ready to learn and I was so impacted by the serve we had with Mr. Garner (our internship facilitator) that helped this girls get to understand more about what we do. I got to hear some of their testimonies and saw that the Lord was moving in that. Their experience helped me reflect more on serving and I saw the Lord move in me too.
