Lessons in Humility & Curiosity

During the weekend of 14/15 of June we were able to visit our church partner in East Tennessee. The majority of the population of the church there are Spanish speakers. It was a humbling experience to be in a place where I was not familiar with the music or the lyrics. The people who regularly attend that church expressed how grateful they were for our presence there, because it was an encouragement to them.

One of our tasks was to lead a discussion with a church member regarding their weekly prayer meeting. As students, we approached the conversation with a lot of assumptions about what information the church member may need regarding all aspects of leading a church prayer. Our assumptions were wrong and I learned that we need to lead with a lot more curiosity. I was really grateful to have this conversation with our brother in Christ. He was a blessing to us.
