It has been so special to be back in Kenya again! The last time I was here I was sixteen, and I wasn’t sure what God was going to do with my life. I’m so thankful to be back in Kenya again, 8 years later, after studying God’s word full time for the past several years. God has done so much in me since then, and I am blessed to be able to process and respond to what I see.
We spent yesterday watching a match for NFC Kenya, our soccer team here in Nairobi. It was so fun to cheer them on and even see some of our summer intern guys playing alongside them. After the game we got to fellowship over Indian food at dinner. We got to know the players better, which was surreal after knowing of them from a distance for so long. We ended the night by watching the Superman movie together in a theater.
God has been so present even in helping me make observations about Nairobi and how it differs so much from the capital of Uganda, Kampala. It feels like my missions experiences from before I was educated in God’s word are now colliding with my missions experiences during my Biblical education, and that has given me a lot to process, but ultimately it has made me grateful. I’m a different person now, and my capacity has developed so much since I was a sixteen year old kid in Nairobi, waiting for direction from God. God answered me, and the fruit has been more than I could ever have imagined.
