Over the past 2 days (including today), I’ve been at Horizon Apartments for SLAM. I’ve really enjoyed it, I was on a SLAM team I think 2 years ago where I was working a kids camp for the same place, and I got to see some of those kids again, and met some new ones. There was one guy who I hung out with, played soccer, and talked too for a long time. Through talking about SLAM and what we were doing with the camp, he got interested in SLAM and started asking questions, so after I answered them I asked if he was interested in coming to a SLAM and he said yes. I really like the guy, he’s 15 and a leader to most of these younger kids in the community. That was my day (the service project part).
I think that the relationship building I have with people is going to make the impact the trip I will have even greater. The people I meet and create relationships with will be a reminder and something that sticks with me in coming back to Nashville. I’m really excited to continue this trip and use this gift to create better relationships and bigger impacts on myself through those experiences I have.
