God is Just as “Here” as He is “There”

Today I had the amazing opportunity to serve youth in a community in North Nashville called “Buffalo Trails”. Ezrah Aaseby and I put on a kids camp alongside the Academy for G.O.D. High School SLAM Group. Interacting with the kids was awesome. They took a little while to warm up to some new people coming around, but as soon as we started playing with the kids and showing them our activities, they dove right in! As the day progressed, we ended up seeing more and more kids come along to see what we were doing. From soccer, to bubbles, to talking about our favorite types of Uncrustables, the kids were so happy to have us with them.

As the day moved on and the kids were more comfortable around us, we began to hear more of their stories as we interacted with them and asked them intentional questions about their families and what it’s like living where they do. When I would ask them questions, I found that many of them carried a lot of pain and heartbreak in their stories, and you could tell by the way they delivered what they were saying that it was heavy, and it was indeed a heavy thing to hear the pains of disadvantaged you.

I felt the Lord so clearly remind me that His work is not bound to any specific region, and the work I do here in Nashville is just like the work I will do abroad. Wherever I go I will make an impact for the Kingdom if I keep my eyes focused on His word and my heart open to how He wants to work in my life. I was so blessed to see how the kids opened up and shared the joy they had today because of our faithfulness to serve them.
