My parents both are missionaries to Latin America. They have served in multiple Latin countries such as Mexico, Guatemala, and El Salvador. As a child tagged along on a few missions. The last mission trip I went on where I was fully a participant was in 2021 where I went on a Mission Trip with my school, The Academy for GOD. I was 14 at the time and being 4 years removed from that moment I realized returning to El Salvador there were so many things that I missed.
A main component is the language barrier. Since my last trip I’ve been studying Spanish to able to connect with people. This past week in El Salvador has been a testament to that. I’ve been able to share moments with people I wouldn’t normally have like with our driver, making conversations and listening to Corridos. I was able to help and translate for my friends who wanted to encourage some young Salvadoran girls at an our campus. I made the goal to make others feel loved and seen and by the end of the trip I was told how much I was upholding my name. I hope to continue to being a blessing to others and showing God’s love.
