Most of the time it is easy to get relactant when the mission trip is towards the end but something important I have learnt as I’m developing in leadership, more so the leadership that is inspired by God, living in the moment is very important. Thinking about what is happening at the moment helps us give it all. “We are not home yet.” These are great lessons to anyone who wants to be involved in mission.
Mombasa mission trip happened to be at the end of our service in Africa. Everyone really needed to depend on the lord to give us strength. The Slam Service Camp we did in Mombasa though being the shortest we ended up getting so many people thinking out of their cultural and religious contexts. Mindsets were changed and more questions emerged on who we are and how we are capable of bringing much change in a few days. But all this goes back to being able to tap into God’s presence and letting him be in the lead.
I think the lord is letting me see this through the lens of my leaders who have done this before so that I grow to understand that we need to crucify our flesh and serve others without thinking about the end. I was one of the people who was worried about what will happen at last but God has taught me to trust in him. Doing things from selfish ambition leads us to think of our comfort zones which is not healthy for a labourer on the kingdom of God. I think at some level we have all developed this kind of thinking. I want to keep listening to God’s word keep thinking about this internship. I’ll go home with testimonies. Ready to give the people who weren’t here the experience through building them up with the the lessons I have got.
