Day 2 – Thoughts and Reflections!

Bootcamp has begun. I feel expectant and hopeful for all that God will do, and yet I also feel the weight of responsibility that comes with doing ministry. To be part of God’s work, and to represent him in the world is no small task. Doing everything ‘with excellence unto the Lord.’ This is the expectation, and this is how we show a watching world who our Lord is. It is humbling to consider that God entrusts his people to be his image bearers, to testify to his realness, to demonstrate his heart and will, to uphold his justice, and to usher in his spirit in our environments.

What hope God has in his people, that he believes them capable of embodying his presence on earth. I have been contemplating this reality as I have begun my Internship experience, and it has humbled me and brought me to my knees in prayer. “Lord help me to take seriously this calling… this work. Lord help our team to feel the weight of living with this conviction – it is how we live and testify to your character that others would come to know and experience you.”

Choosing to spend my summer abroad serving Gods people, is obedience, yes. It is an effort to live out this prayer. But it is not enough to passively participate. at the outset, I recognize my need to consider that everyday, every minute, every second, is an opportunity to surrender in obedience to the reality that God NEEDS me, God NEEDS this team – God NEEDS his children to step up and be his labourers. “For the harvest is plenty but the labourers are few.”
