Investing and Empowerment of Youth

I learned that young students are so impacted by young adults who invest in them. People who are invested in who they are and what they’re learning and allow them to be themselves. When it comes to being an example of a child of God, they look up to people who are themselves and shine for the Lord. I was so impacted by how many kids said they were impacted by an intern this week. Whether it was their prayer, or service together, or even conversation. I just know that these kids are inspired to live lives for the Lord now that they have seen examples of it in some of the SLAM students testimonies they highlighted the fact that they are able to empower that because they have been invested into. They now know how to invest into the lives of others kids who can be easily swayed by their peers when it comes to things socially but when they see young adults who are free to love the Lord of everything they see how they can do it too.

Melanie Flores (another Intern) gave an amazing testimony for the end of late nights on Wednesday night, she testified to how the Lord brought her here after attending a SLAM week. Now she is now able to serve, even though she didn’t think she could as a shy kid. She showed them that serving the Lord can be shown through anyone and in many different ways. We have to be example by being servant leaders in order for these students to understand what ministry is. I think ministry to youth when it comes to learning about who they are in the kingdom of God is telling them that they are loved. How can we expect them to love others and serve when they don’t feel it?
