Service? Immediately? Yes.

Hello whoever Is reading this (Hola mama) I’m writing this sitting on a very comfortable chair on a beautiful Monday morning,

2nd day of the trip. We started yesterday with registration and went right into Sunday service. It was beautiful. Being able to have that first worship moment with our whole team and church family surrounding us lifted my faith in the morning. All of a sudden it seemed real, we were actually starting this incredible journey. Worship unifies everyone no matter race, culture, gender or economic status. The unity that we were able to experience because we surrendered to the Lord showed me that big things were coming this summer.

After that, we jumped right into a time of banqueting table. We all sat down together, shared a meal and articulated the goals we have for the summer. We laughed, reflected on scripture, prayed and were encouraged. I always love starting moments of service with a dining opportunity. Jesus in the gospels thought this was so important, that it was the last thing he did with his disciples before going to the cross. Then we went right into SLAM planning.

This week we are going to be serving over 200 youth from Nashville and the surrounding states. We all have responsibilities for this week in which was revealed with how our leaders immediately had us work on preparing a week full of service to youth who are hungry for God’s presence.

In my mind, that is one of the greatest privileges I can receive ever in my whole entire life. For me, SLAM is an opportunity to help facilitate time where Jesus can call disciples. Praise the Lord. We ended the day with a bible study on Luke 2:41; boy Jesus. We learned how God does not characterize our mistakes when we are developing as a child as sin, but as moments where we learn. This teaching brings a lot of freedom in truly experiencing the grace of God, because as a young person… I make mistakes a little too much haha.

The night concluded with a time where we got to be hosted at various different homes, sharing a meal with a beautiful family and sharing stories from previous trips. What a beautiful day. The one thing I constantly reflected on was this: I get to start this trip by serving others. This is Jesus’ mission. He came not to be served, but to serve. Me and my whole team get to do that, together! God is good, Amen. Welp.. peace out! Thanks for reading.
