Fighting off the Flesh

I’m currently on a train that’s taking us from Mombasa, Kenya to Nairobi Kenya. In mombasa, we put on a large Slam service camp for about 140 different youth from all over Kenya (plus our team and leaders — that’s over 200!). God moved in so, so many ways… Today we got to hear the testimonies of all the students and they were so precious. We were reminded as a team why we came to serve here, to hear those testimonies.

Coming into Mombasa, our team was fighting the flesh battle HEAVY. Our team is sensing that the trip is almost over so we are getting more tired and less focused on the mission at hand. I even for myself have felt more tiredness and anger try to sneak in. This part of the trip I’ve had to really work hard to fight off these things and tap into the spirit of the Lord. It’s harder than what you think. Sometimes you need to serve when your flesh is telling you to do otherwise. But, I did choose rightly, and man oh man do I not regret it one bit.

As i’m riding back to Nairobi with bug bites on my arms and my body tired… I have never been more happy in my life. Hearing the kenyan youth testify about how the Lord has called them out of darkness into light has given me so much hope. The work we are doing is not in vain, and the Lord supports it!!! That should give us so much confidence and strength when we are serving the Lord. I got to be apart of creating a hospitable world for youth to grow into a knowledge of God… that’s powerful.

Genesis 1. God creates the world and sets it up for his children to thrive. We are created in his image, so we all have that same call together. Thank you Lord!!
