One thing I learned about ministry is the amount of work, thought, and prayer has to go into these weeks for the kids to have lifelong memories and positive experiences.
I got more of a glimpse into the logistical side of facilitating a SLAM week this week, and let me tell you, there are a LOT of logistics involved with a ministry effort this size. 160 kids, several youth leaders, and many of the sites our students served at were counting on SLAM to get them to the right place at the right time. Thanks to the examples I saw of SLAM leaders and all the prayerful considerations they make, I now realize the monumental work it is to help kids get to Jesus. Our role is to facilitate times for them to meet with God and develop their relationships. This means thinking through lodging, meals, transportation, service project schedules, hospitality, and more. Though that effort is vast, it’s well worth it to see kids worshiping God and serving with everything they have.
See the attached photo of me: tired from a long week of service but very happy that my work made it possible for young people to serve Jesus 🙂
