I have been working with at McKendree Village (an elderly assisted living home). What has surprised me is how much I have loved working there. I knew that I would enjoy it because I have been there before but I love being able to remember the names and their stories and see them again and be able to have more personal conversations. My last service project from the school year was also McKendree Village so it has been special to go back and see everyone again. What I have really loved about this service project is that I get to help kids understand what is going on around them and how to engage an older generation. I was a little surprised by how confident I was to lead these kids and how much I knew and was able to help them understand. I really enjoyed it, it was for sure a full day of service projects but I also feel so filled with joy. Served and met so many people it was a very special day.
