Hello all,
On Wednesday (June 11th), I served with SLAM at a food distribution site in Antioch, TN called The Branch. It put into perspective something for me, there’s a very real, practical application of service. We were packing food into carts and giving them to people who needed them. On the other hand, we can enrich people through service providing them the spiritual, emotional, and social platform from which provides a way for continual improvement rather than a one-off moment of being served (though those remain important as the groundwork). At The Branch, it wasn’t just about feeding them once. It was about giving them the means to provide for themselves.
Service here at home is preparation, physically, mentally and spiritually, for serving abroad. It’s so important we recognize the many facets of how we serve so that we can engage in the kind of service that is enriching because that requires engagement and a spiritual awareness so that we can even pointedly serve in those ways.
Please continue in prayer for us interns, that we might have the sight to see what God sees; that we may see those we can serve and enrich.
In Christ,
TW
