The service work I participated in during this SLAM week was eye-opening. I realized that the needy can be helped in ways that are not directly financial. For example how there were several service projects like building stoves, refurbishing dilapidated structures such as latrines in the homes of the needy etc.
It was amazing how the people helped were touched by the work and how they thanked God and thanked us and prayed we would also help others in the community the same way we helped them. I was touched with their gratitude to God for the work done and I have been encouraged to help in any way possible.
It does not have to be financial, as I had previously thought. The service projects also shed light Matthew 25:40 which tells us that whatever we do to the least of others , we do unto Christ. that encourages me to help the needy as more than I had already be doing.
