After the team from last summer got home, they told amazing stories about Kamuli. The town was a divided town, struck by hostility and division and through the works of the Lord last summer there was a restoration to the community. Specifically through the venue of futbol. I heard about what the Lord did in Kamuli and was excited to learn we were going there. When we were in Kabonge and were packing up to leave, I thought we were leaving to go to Kenya, but I was surprised to learn we were going to Kamuli. I was so excited.
We arrived to the Church very late into the day and were welcomed by a small gathering of people with song and dance. I was tired on the bus, but was immediately struck with energy during the praise time. We put on a small service with song and dance, and then watched a Jesus movie. The next morning we had an early morning and Pastor Wilbert gave a small encouragement about how we should strive to know the Lord. He talked from Genesis and the story of the tower of Babel. He highlighted how humans often want to reach God in extravagant ways but we need to strive for him in humility. We then had a small church service, got ready to play futbol, and host a community-wide lunch. We played 2 futbol games; we lost the first one, which was a 30 minute game against their youth team, then we played their senior team and beat them. It was really fun and got intense during multiple moments, but concluded very well. I gave a short encouragement and word of thanks to the crowd and we headed to lunch. It was such an incredible time and we were able to bless many people through fellowship, and communion.
At the lunch, we had about 500+ people, kids and adults both. We had enough food prepared, but ended up having a multiplied amount at the end and we got to feed more people than we thought. The Lord multiplied the food. Before we started the lunch we got a short encouragement from Chief Garner about kingdom math, and Jesus feeding the 5000, and we all prayed for the Lords provision and favor, and he blessed the food and the time.
Although it was a short visit, my time in Kamuli is something I will never forget. The Lord was so near and he really blessed and multiplied our time and efforts in Kamuli.
