This trip has been such an eye opening experience. Today marks day #10 (when I wrote this) and a lot has happened since we got here. Right now we are sitting here at a hotel waiting for some food.
This trip has been eye opening because I have seen how life works over here. People struggle to eat, sleep and thrive. A few days ago we stayed at this church in Kumli and we met a lot of special people. This church was very welcoming and showed a lot of hospitality. At the end of the night we ended up sleeping on the floor, and the floor was just dirt. This was a new experience for me, and Iām thankful for that time because my eyes were opened.
This trip has shown me how privileged I am. There are people in this world who sleep on dirt floors, and yet I still manage to complain about my own tent being too hot. This trip has taught me to be humble and to count all of my blessings. This kind trip pushes you to your limits, and your flesh starts to feel very strong. This is why we must stay in prayer and keep each other accountable. As God’s kids we are called to serve others and be that light for others who are in the dark.
Mr. Garner in one of his bible studies talked about being that light, the city on a hill. We need to show people the love of Jesus. This trip is starting to come to its end and I’m really excited to see what comes next. This next SLAM week is going to be crazy, and I plan to push myself as much as possible.
