God used me in a way that I did not expect in El Salvador. We were invited to play soccer against the local team and during this time one of our cooperatives let me know that her deaf nephew who we had spoken of came to watch the game. She brought me to him and let me introduce myself. I was able to sign with him for a little bit and have a good experience with him and a few others.
It was very difficult to communicate because neither he or I are fluent in ASL and some of our signs differed. (I did check that he knew ASL not another form of sign language.) It was hard for me because if I wanted to spell a word I had to do it in Spanish so I would have to ask a translator so that I could spell out words. Despite the multi level language barrier God moved through to impact someone.
