First few days in Uganda

The las few days here in Uganda have been so sweet. I’ve been overflowing with joy and thankfulness as I reflect on the journey that it was to get here this summer. I know that God was the one who made a way and led me here and because of that I have done by best to not take for granted a single minute. God is doing so much here in Uganda and I am so grateful to be a part of it.

The best thing has been seeing my friends here again. These moments of eating together, serving and cleaning around the campus, testifying to what it is that God has done in us in the time that we’ve been apart – its all the best things. These are friends that I get to learn the bible and take classes with half way around the word. They are beautiful and faithful friends that serve God so well and love their community as Jesus models for us in scripture. I’m always encouraged and strengthened by my time with them.

We just finished hosting a training time for students being employed through a program our ministry started called Workwell. This program helps students develop professionally while giving them opportunity to get experience in real workplaces. They get paid to be trained into a person who is a competent and hard working professional. By the end of their time working with Workwell they will be more equipped and walk away with skills that are move valuable than money. The program focuses on the development of youth, incorporating scriptural vales into everything that they do. It was a wonderful few days of training and getting to know the team that will be serving in the kitchen and around campus with us next week when we will have over 200 people on our campus. They developed so much even in the few short days that they were here and it was a blessing to get to witness.

This is just the first week and there is so much more that I could say, but for now I am thankful to God for the work that he is doing in the people around me and the work that he will continue to do as we seek to be faithful and obedient to fulfill the calling that he has given to me and my team. He has been so near and I know that he has touched each of us with his spirit each day, helping us to wake up with a renewed strength every morning. Please keep praying for our team. There is so much still to do here on our campus in preparation for next week and we need Gods help! Thank you and love you all so much!
