SLAM WEEK!

I got to lead SLAM service projects at 2 different locations during the week, and one that really stood out to me was serving at the Madison Garden with Nature Nate. It was super hot every day I was there, and the SLAM students were getting pretty tired and honestly starting to lose sight of how what they were doing was still serving God and helping so many people.

Being there taught me how important it is to bring the Lord into every single moment – even when it’s hot, we’re exhausted, and doing a lot of physical work. I talked to the students about how even sweating is a good thing because it means we’re working hard for something bigger than ourselves. I wanted to help them shift their perspective and remind them that even when it doesn’t feel “spiritual,” God still sees the work we’re doing and uses it to bless others.

It was really good to see how their attitudes shifted throughout the day when we focused our hearts back on why we’re doing it – to serve and love others just like Jesus would.
