The preparation leading up to going out and serving Jesus requires a full denial of yourself. The elements of your flesh that you have allowed to take presidence over the spirit have to be disciplined and pushed down in order to give your all to the service of God’s people.
This wholehearted push for team unity, knowledge, and humility challenges what I think is common in terms of preparing for trips—packing, spending time with those you will be leaving. While doing these things is definitely necessary Boot Camp–even though it’s only day 2—has pushed me to develop every aspect needed to be a fruitful vessel of Gods love, to be his workmanship, to be his laborer. We have had times of Bible study, times of team building, times of organization, times of prayer. It has truly blessed me… ALREADY!
Nashville Prep is a full immersion into the Scriptures, learning about the ways in which Jesus served and putting into action the type of love he showed towards his kids in the small ways. Helping prep for SLAM has been a blessing as it has not only opened my eyes to the amount of work that goes in to planning something on such a large scale but it has revealed to me just how deeply these youth are cared for by the adults in their lives. It’s through these local preparations that I am beginning to see the value in focus and denying your flesh to serve the Lord. Preparing to serve Jesus is a preparation unlike any other and I am very excited to see the ways in which I will continue to grow and learn!
