This year, I got to participate in our Saint John’s ministerial efforts twice. Last summer internship, I was unfortunately unable to because I was sick. However, I was so blessed for the extra time I got this year to love on and invest into the students and even teach them Gods Word.
The first visit began the first day we arrived in Kabonge. Our entire team headed over to teach classes, lead an assembly, dance, sing worship, and even prepare a meal for the students and staff members. I got to lead a Bible class, where I taught on Exodus 3, and the importance of listening to Gods voice and saying yes when he calls you. I gave this lesson to Primary 7 students(around 7th grade in the USA). It was a wonderful time – they had so many questions about the Bible and the story of Moses, that we ended up using our second block of 40 minutes, as well as our lunch time, which was an additional 30, of just answering questions and talking more about the Word of God. I got to lead this group with Quinn Ssemakula and Esther Bargatze.
The second time was on July 17th. However, this time I was in charge of organizing classes and making sure things were happening. Me and a couple other Trainees took lead on this and added team members to classes and helped organize their materials. It was challenging because it was just me, Kiah, and Zeke who were to communicate with the school and be on campus to ensure there were no issues. It actually went incredibly well…we didn’t have any problems and every class had a testimony behind it. I was so thankful. We had 3 Bible classes this time, and they got to rotate between P1-P6, as well as a fourth Bible class that the kindergarten teachers led. Man, this was amazing. It’s God’s work. I felt so emotional and energized the entire time! God is so good.
I’m so thankful for the experience of teaching in a cross-cultural environment, as well as organizing classes in a third world setting. These are skills I don’t believe I could get outside of this program, and I’m so thankful to God that I’ve been able to learn so much this year.
