A moment that brought me joy on internship happened a few weeks ago when we were in El Salvador. It was the 3rd day of SLAM El Salvador and we took all of the SLAM students to this restaurant for dinner. This place had two levels of upper deck seating and one area for seating on the lower level. It was all outdoors and even had a pool, so it was a very nice place to bring all the SLAM kids.
Before the food came out a bunch of us interns and the SLAM El Sal kids jumped into the pool with all of our clothes on. We played some games in and just had a lot of fun together. After that we got some music playing and a small group of us starting dancing together. That small group soon turned into like 70% of the people there. After a while the food came out and we all ate together in different groups. This night brought me a lot of joy because it was beautiful to see the Americans and Salvadorians fellowship and be unified together despite any cultural or language barriers that could have made it difficult.
