Visiting the Orphanage

Today, July 15, 2025 I was going to serve the community through service projects. My group was assigned to build a rocket stove but the plans failed and we had to join the others in the Orphanage. I personally felt a little frustrated because it would have been a great opportunity for young adults to acquire the skill but after visiting the Orphanage my attitude and feelings changed.

I observed the kids, with all the basic needs barely attended to, I felt the lord lead me towards the people who need him the most. The people he came in flesh to serve. Seeing kids as young as 2 weeks, with parents who left them after birth was so disturbing to my mind but I did let the spirit of God lead me to see that he cares for all of us and he has given us life. I had some quality time enjoying the kids, serving them food and having good conversations with them. God did make me think of what can be changed if those kids there had his education, they would have life in abundance.

I can’t forget Mama Gladys, the leader of the Orphanage, a caring woman with a sad life story. So humble and loving. God throughout this internship has made me be in situations that teach me more of love, care and being humble. He has given me more understanding of his word and he has taught me discernment in hard situations. Still sad though I had to leave the place, seeing Mercy, one of the students with a warm smile on her face, made me want more of that. I’ll keep praying for this Orphanage that God meets them and dwells among them.

It was really hard for me to see that but I Know God is transforming me to a better person. His servant to bring life to his people. I love the lord for building sight and discernment.
